Generate value by using recycled polymers when shape molding

Expandable Polystyrene and other polymer products are popular materials for packaging and insulation purposes in many industries. This is caused by the fact that the materials are light-weight and flexible. However, polymer waste handling often turns out to be expensive, as there is a strict legislation on how to handle the waste, while the sheer volume of the scrap tends to be problematic.

The answer to this challenge is to recycle the used EPS, Neopor, EPP, Arcel or EPE and mix it back into the production of new foam products by shape molding. Thereby, shape molding manufacturers will be able to regain almost all of the original value of the material.

On this page you can learn more about:

  • How to cut costs when shape molding by using the Injektorking Vario fillguns
  • How to reach an optimal mixing and metering before shape molding

Cut costs when shape molding by using the Injectorking Vario Fillguns

The Injektorking Vario Fillgun was designed in 1975. Today we offer the Vario EPS injector that is calibrated for a minimum of 60 l/min air consumption by six bars. For EPP, EPE and Arcel shape molding we offer the Injektorking Vario Turbo/Combi Fillgun that is calibrated for a minimum of 100 l/min air consumption by six bars.

The low air consumption of the Injektorking fillguns allows you to cut costs when shape molding. This is possible as you save money on energy costs. Furthermore, the fillguns only require little maintenance as they are self-cleaning and have a durable construction where all critical parts are made of stainless steel.

Reach an optimum mixing and metering before shape molding

Any of the KBM recycling systems have the capacity to turn used polymers into high-quality beads that contain a minimum of dust and have a form that is similar to new pre-expanded beads. Therefore, the recycled beads are congruent with new beads and have a value that is almost as high. This means that you can generate value from the used polymers by reusing the beads in shape molding.

However, the mixing and the metering of the new and the reused beads are fundamental for gaining the highest possible value. In general you can mix as much as 20 percent of the recycled polymer beads into the shape molding production. By using the KBM Styromix system for the mixing and metering of the new and the recycled beads you will be able to reach the highest possible ratio.

Why choose KBM machinery for shape molding?
